Tiger Sprint – a sneak peak of our new SUP race fin

We are currently putting the final touches on the 2015 SUP fin range and we are pleased to be able to give you a sneak preview of what will be a hot new item for the upcoming season. Working closely with our team we wanted to extend the options available for riders to ensure optimal tuning in a range of race conditions.

Tiger Sprint

For the past 6 months we have been trying a number of options in a range of conditions and with a range of boards and riders. We wanted to produce a looser feel for fast springs and quick buoy turns. The foil has some special properties which optimize the turning ability at low speeds just when you need it but increasing the grip as the speed increases on the straights so that you can deliver more power through your paddle. Racing is about getting from A to B as quickly as possible with the caveat that in races with lots of turning that becomes A to B to C to D etc.

The above image shows some of the early prototypes, we spend a lot of time working on the computer and with models but there is no substitute for on board testing. While we typically experience close to what we predict, real work testing provides further feedback and sometimes highlights pros of cons which modeling alone cannot understand. Following further development the fin on the left (Shark #1) morphed into the production version of the Tiger Sprint.

Named after the Tiger Shark which patrols the Hawaii waters, the Tiger Sprint is similarly agile, fast and deadly in the right hands. If you are looking to take your tuning options to another level then the Tiger Sprint fin may be the right choice for you. More details about this new race fin will be released soon and we will be taking pre-orders before too long. If you have any questions then please get in contact.
