The SURGE Pro Wave SUP Paddle is for serious wave junkies who want more power, lighter weight and increased maneuverability. The Surge combines exceptional paddling power with ultimate stability. The ergonomic engineering and optimized flex characteristics will enable you to catch more waves and surf them better. When the conditions are good you want to stay out longer and the SURGE will have you catching waves while others are already driving home.   surge-wave-sup-paddle-lightweight-black-project-paddes2 The Surge proprietary blade holds the water securely generating smooth power delivery while eliminating lateral blade movement. The ‘Scooped Dihedral’ design grabs the water while enabling efficient release. On entry the blade corrects for poor alignment often associated with fatigue or hurried strokes. The extension of the tapered scoop towards the toe ensures that the paddle remains stable and delivers power even if you fail to get the full blade in the water. The drive is concentrated in the balanced sweet spot for a smooth and constant delivery during the power phase of the stoke. We added a slight ridge along the front (forward facing) of the paddle, this increases paddle stiffness both vertically and laterally while adding increased strength. We smoothed out all edges to increase safety, increase strength and reduce board damage. surge-wave-sup-paddle-small-medium-77-82-sq-in

The SURGE SUP surf paddle is available in four blade sizes and a range of shaft options to suit all SUP surfers no matter their size, paddling location or style. The LARGE 87 sq in (568cm2) is designed for larger riders over 80kg and features our standard diameter shaft. The MEDIUM 82 sq in (530 cm2) is suited for riders 64 – 85kg. The SMALL 77 sq in (493 cm2) is recommended for riders 50 – 70kg. New for 2018 is the X-Small 72 sq in (446cm2) designed for smaller riders and grom paddlers in the 35-60kg range. The Medium, Small and X-Small Surge paddles come with our Reduced Diameter shaft. Both the Standard Diameter & Reduced Diameter shafts are available in Medium or Soft. Note that due to the increase efficiency and power experienced with the SURGE riders can use smaller paddles than before and benefit from a higher cadence stroke. Our lightweight 100% carbon wave handle is fitted to the palm of your hand for comfort, the bright red color will stand out in the surf in case you get separated and the flat front of the handle will instantly ensure the correct orientation.       surge-red-carbon-t-sup-paddle-handle The 82, 77 & 72 sizes feature our Reduced Diameter Shaft (RDS) for easier grip and lighter weight, this smaller shaft is designed for surfing. The 87 is designed for larger riders and hence our Standard Diameter Shaft (SDS) is used. We proudly make our 100% Premium Carbon shafts in the USA, the weight, strength and responsiveness cannot be matched by other brands. Since the launch of these shafts we have a near zero failure rate even in the most challenging of conditions. By working closely with USA based aerospace engineers we were able to increase the strength, improve the responsiveness of the flex and reduce overall weight. Our premium paddles are assembled with hot glue which enables easy adjustment while providing a water tight bond and added shock absorption. The Surge is available in 100% Premium Carbon Medium Flex and 100% Premium Carbon Soft Flex.  SUP Paddle, carbon sup paddle, reduced diameter paddle, lighter weight paddle, carbon paddle, black project paddles, reduced diameter sup paddle shaft

“The SURGE Wave paddle is a bit more tear dropped in shape compared to the HYDRO, it feels powerful right at the catch.  It’s just what you want for wave riding, quick, explosive strokes!  The reduced diameter (medium flex) shaft is just what I needed to limit stress on the shoulders, not too soft, not too stiff and absolutely bomb proof!”  TJ, Big Winds, USA

"With the first few strokes I was blown away by the power of the Surge 77. I can quickly paddle into waves and be super agile on the wave face itself. The paddle is insanely light, small, powerful and ideal for surfing.” Joey Sanchez, Solo Sports Adventure Holidays, Mexico.

There is no one answer to this question. A large range of methods for choosing your paddle size have been floated over the past couple of years. In general paddles have become shorter over the past few seasons, this has been exaggerated by the reduction in length of boards being used in the waves. For any given paddler there are a number of variables to consider when cutting your paddle. Below is a useful sizing chart which makes some suggestions based on the type of paddling you do, your height and what you ride. Too long and your shoulders will suffer whereas if your paddle is too short your back will feel the pain, get it right and you will feel comfortable over long periods. The use of hot glue enables you to easily shorten your paddle, our recommendation is that you leave your paddle slightly longer and then cut down if required. If you are unsure about what length you need please get in contact and we can discuss.
